Style by Cher · Clarity Step LLC · Effective May 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Clarity Step LLC (“Clarity Step,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Style by Cher mobile application (the “App”), our marketing website (the “Site”), and related services (together, the “Services”). It is intended to meet expectations for mobile app stores (including Apple’s App Store) and applicable privacy laws. Use of the Services is also governed by our Terms of Service.

Summary

We built Cher to help you organize and style what you already own. That means the App may process account details, photos you choose to upload, and messages you send to Cher so we can provide styling features, sync your closet when you sign in, and improve reliability. We use trusted infrastructure and AI providers under contracts, and we use product analytics in the App to understand how features are used. We do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Account and contact information

  • If you sign in to the App, we receive account identifiers and (depending on the sign-in method and your settings) information such as email address from Apple Sign In, Google, or our authentication provider (Supabase Auth).
  • If you contact us or submit a form on the Site (for example, support or product updates), we collect the details you submit (such as email, optional phone number, and optional name fields) so we can respond.

Your content and styling data

  • Closet items: photos you take or import, item names, and attributes (such as category, color, and other fields you or automated processing add) to power search, organization, and styling.
  • Style context: inspiration or “you” photos you choose to add so Cher can understand your preferences.
  • Chat and styling interactions: messages you send in the assistant experience, outfit feedback, and related interactions used to generate responses and improve your experience.
  • Local device storage: portions of your closet data may be stored on your device (for example, for performance and offline use), in addition to cloud sync when you use an account.

Technical, usage, and analytics information

  • Device and app diagnostics such as app version, OS, locale, and operational logs needed to run and secure the Services.
  • Product analytics in the App via PostHog, including events like sign-in, adding or removing closet items, filter use, assistant messages, look board actions, and similar feature usage. When you are signed in, analytics may associate events with your authenticated account identifier and email (as configured in our integration).
  • App lifecycle signals (for example, session foreground/background where supported by the SDK) to understand engagement and reliability.

Permissions

The App requests access only when needed and as disclosed in system permission prompts—such as camera and photo library for closet and styling photos. You can change permissions in your device settings.

How we use information

  • Provide, personalize, and improve styling, closet organization, chat, and related features.
  • Create and maintain your account and sync your data across devices when you use cloud features.
  • Process images (including background processing and related image edits) as part of closet workflows.
  • Operate, secure, debug, and improve performance of the Services; detect abuse and protect users.
  • Send operational messages and, if you opt in, marketing about Style by Cher (product news and updates).
  • Meet legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Artificial intelligence and automated processing

Some features send portions of your content to AI or image services so Cher can describe items, generate outfit ideas, answer questions, or process photos (for example, background removal or cutouts). Outputs are generated from your inputs and our product configuration; they may be wrong or inappropriate for a given situation—use judgment and check important details.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers (“processors”) who help us run the Services, subject to contractual protections:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, storage, and serverless functions that connect components of the App and Site.
  • OpenAI — accessed through our secure server-side integration (not by embedding API keys in the public client) for language and vision features used by Cher.
  • PhotoRoom (or similar image APIs we configure) — image editing and segmentation used for closet photo processing via our backend.
  • PostHog — product analytics in the App.
  • Apple & Google — when you choose those sign-in methods, subject to their respective privacy policies.
  • Expo / EAS — app delivery and over-the-air updates as configured for our Expo project.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

Retention

We keep information as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Some data may persist in backups for a limited period. You may request deletion as described below, subject to legal exceptions.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the Services. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we encourage strong passwords, device passcodes, and keeping your account credentials private.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us using the email below. You can also use your device settings to revoke camera/photos access and, where available, limit tracking as described by the platform.

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA (including knowing what we collect, requesting deletion, and opting out of sale/sharing—though we do not sell personal information).

If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or Switzerland, we process your information as described here and you may have rights under GDPR, including lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

International transfers

We operate in the United States and may process information in the U.S. and other countries where we or our providers maintain facilities. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice as appropriate (for example, in the App or by email).
